Kristin White Leads USU Gymnastics Team ‘Hungry For Success’

Utah State gymnasts celebrate at a meet in 2022
LOGAN, Utah – The Utah State gymnastics team is ‘hungry’, preparing to begin a new era under first-year head coach Kristin White.
After leading USU to their first-ever Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference championship, Amy Smith resigned as head coach, taking the same position with Clemson University.

After an exhaustive search for their next coach, USU leadership tabbed Arizona Sun Devil assistant Kristin White for the job.
White spent five season’s as an assistant coach with Iowa State and Arizona State.
“I think the minute I stepped on campus, and I started getting to know administration and all the support staff that works with the program and really just the community, my husband and I absolutely fell in love with with Cache Valley,” White said.
Once a member of the Oklahoma Sooners program, White hopes to infuse a similar energy within the Aggie program.

“I think my experience as a student athlete, and growing the Oklahoma program into what it is today. It’s something that I’ve always been intrigued by and wanted to be a part of,” she remarked.
“All of us know, fans can change the outcome of any competition that you’re at. I want that for our gymnastics program. I want them to come out and fill the stands. To have their support, because I think we have a great product for our fans. I’m just really looking forward to the future of this program.”
About Kristin White
An All-American on beam and floor routine as a senior at Oklahoma, White began her collegiate career in 2008. White’s OU squad won three Big 12 championships, finishing as the national runner-up in her senior season of 2010.

After graduating with a master’s degree in adult and higher education in 2012, White spent five years coaching at the club level with Dynamo Gymnastics in Oklahoma. In 2016, White was recognized as the Oklahoma State Coach of the Year.
She accepted an assistant coach position with Iowa State in 2018. The Cyclones would finish in the top-25 each of the three seasons White was there.
White then moved on to Arizona State where she worked with gymnasts on the beam and floor. White was named the WCGA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 2021 after the Sun Devils ended the season as the No. 9 team in the country.

USU secured its first-ever Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference championship in 2022, recording a season-high 197.025, which ranks second all-time in school history.
The Aggies have a nice mix of experience and youth on their roster. Three seniors & six juniors make up the the upperclass-women. With three sophomores and seven freshman rounding out the roster.
USU begins their MRGC championship defense on Friday, January 13 when they head to West Valley, UT for the Rio Tinto Best of Utah gymnastics meet.
Utah has won the past three Best of Utah competitions at the Maverik Center, while Utah State placed second last season.
