Utah Running Back Ricky Parks Enters The Transfer Portal

SALT LAKE CITY- Utah running back Ricky Parks has hit the NCAA Transfer Portal as of Thursday afternoon. The running back has spent two seasons with the Utes but failed to see any playtime in 2021 and 2022. Parks is the second running back to opt to transfer from Utah with Micah Bernard hitting the portal yesterday looking for a fresh start.

Parks was listed as a composite-four star running back in the 2021 signing class and hails from Tampa, Florida.

The Utes have an embarrassment of riches at running back a few transfers were inevitable upon the conclusion of the 2022 football season. Perhaps one of the biggest indications there would be movement in Utah’s running back room was the emergence of Ja’Quinden Jackson who started the 2022 season as a quarterback and ended it as a very productive running back.

With Bernard and now Parks out of the picture for the Utes in 2023, it will be up to guys like Jackson, and Jaylon Glover to carry the load as the most experienced guys in the room along with newcomers like John Randle Jr. and Michael Mitchell to get up to speed.

Utah has historically been a very productive and competitive place for running backs to show what they can do out on the football field. With names like Eddie Johnson, Jamal Anderson, Matt Asiata, Devontae Booker, and Zack Moss among many others having strong college and even NFL careers at Utah, the bar has been set very high for the position group.

Even with the recent departures, Utah’s running back room appears to be as strong, deep, and competitive as ever.
