SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz haven’t shot the ball as well this season as they did last, but don’t tell that to the Atlanta Hawks.

After knocking off the Hawks 116-98 last week thanks to a season-high 17 made threes last week, the Jazz and shot 39 percent from three, their second-highest mark of the season for a 110-98 win.

Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with 27 points while Kevin Huerter added 28 points for Atlanta in the loss.

First Quarter

The Jazz open the first quarter by knocking down 5-12 shots from deep after knocking down just eight threes all night in Sunday’s loss to the Orlando Magic.

Mitchell got the Jazz started by connecting on 2-3 attempts from downtown in route to 10 first quarter points. Meanwhile, Bojan Bogdanovic had nine points on 4-6 shooting.

Trae Young, who hasn’t played incredibly well against the Jazz, had 10 points on 4-7 shooting overall.

After one, the Jazz led the Hawks 30-28.

Second Quarter

The Jazz continued to knock down threes in the second quarter at a high rate, knocking down 9-21 overall in the half.

The Hawks were able to keep this game competitive based on their own hot shooting knocking down 8-16 threes in the first 24 minutes.

That’s a departure from what the Jazz have done so far this season having entered the night with the NBA’s second-best three-point shooting defense in the NBA.

At the break, the Jazz led the Hawks 62-50 thanks to 15 points from Mitchell and 10 from Jordan Clarkson.

Third Quarter

Kevin Huerter is on fire knocking down 6-7 from the three-point line through the first three quarters of the game. He had 28 points heading into the fourth quarter including a self-made 8-0 run to keep Atlanta engaged while the Jazz threatened to put the game away.

Mitchell meanwhile continued to keep the Jazz in control scoring 24 points of his own in his first 23 minutes.

The Jazz used a late 13-5 lead to take a 95-80 lead into the final period.

Fourth Quarter

The Hawks were able to keep this game in doubt thanks to the red-hot shooting of Huerter and Young who connected on 11-20 three-point attempts.

In total, Atlanta knocked down 18-35 from three, the highest by a Jazz opponent so far this season.

However, it was the 27 points from Mitchell and the Jazz’s 15 threes, plus a 54-41 rebound advantage that ultimately decided the game as Atlanta managed just 18 points in the final period.

The Jazz opened their five-game homestand with a 110-98 win over the Hawks.
