Jazz Donovan Mitchell Brakes Before Burying Step Back Jumper Against Hawks

SALT LAKE CITY – Donovan Mitchell created some separation with an impressive step back shot over Cam Reddish during the Atlanta Hawks vs. Utah Jazz game.
The Jazz hosted the Hawks at Vivint Arena on Tuesday, November 9.
With 7:28 left in the third quarter, Mitchell made Reddish look silly as he put on the brakes before pulling up for a 19-foot step back jumper.
Mitchell’s bucket gave the Jazz a 73-64 advantage on the scoreboard.

19 seconds later, Mitchell fired a no-look pass down the lane to a wide-open Rudy Gobert, who stood under the basketball and rose up for an easy dunk.
The Mitchell-Gobert connection forced the Hawks to a call timeout.

After the plays, Mitchell had a game-high 22 points on 9-14 shooting, including 4-7 from beyond the arc. He added one rebound, four assists, and a steal. Mitchell posted a plus-eight rating during his first 21 minutes on the court.
This season, the fifth-year Jazzman is averaging 25.8 points per contest on 41.6 percent shooting. He also puts up 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals in 32.6 minutes per game.
