SALT LAKE CITY – The Lonely Master, Jimmer Fredette, is heading back to China to play for the Shanghai Sharks.

For the past three months, there has been speculation about Fredette’s future due to reports that the Chinese Basketball Association wouldn’t have foreign players due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, that appears to be reversing course.

Sportando’s Emiliano Carchia reports that Fredette, former San Diego State Aztec Jamaal Franklin, and former Top-10 NBA draft pick Noah Vonleh are headed to the Sharks.

While there has been uncertainty regarding Jimmer Fredette’s pro future, he has remained busy with his training while also giving his fans a behind-the-scenes look into his life on TikTok. Fredette has given his fans basketball tips as he trains for the upcoming season.

For a brief moment, Fredette was slated to play for the Denver Nuggets Summer League team, but that fell through one day later.

With the Sharks during the 2020-21 season, the BYU legend Fredette averaged 26.9 points per game while shooting 53.6% from the field and 39.8% on three-pointers.

Jimmer Fredette pro career snapshot

Fredette played six years in the NBA with five different teams. His most recent appearance in the NBA was with the Phoenix Suns in 2018.

Along with the NBA, Fredette spent one year in the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos from 2019-20. Unfortunately, Fredette’s one year with Panathinaikos was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That’s where he then made a return back to China to play for the Sharks, a team that gave him the nickname “Jimo Dashen.”  In Chinese, Jimo Dashen means “Lonely Master.”
