LOGAN, Utah – Utah State Aggies guard Marco Anthony announced that he will be leaving the program and will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after two seasons in Logan.

Marco Anthony began his college career at the University of Virginia where he was a part of their National Championship team before transferring to Utah State. During the 2019-20 season, Anthony had to sit out due to NCAA transfer rules. His first season playing for the Aggies was this past campaign.

Anthony announced his decision to transfer via Twitter on Monday afternoon.

“Aggie Nation, I am forever grateful for you all for welcoming me to the great city of Logan with open arms as I was yet to showcase what I could truly do at the collegiate level,” the tweet read. “The relationships created with the supporters of the program as well as the memories that have been made within the basketball family will never be forgotten nor shall it ever seem as if it was taken for granted. I feel that it is in my best interest to re-open my recruitment as a grad transfer to find the best situation for me and my future. Thank you all for everything.”

The San Antonio, Texas native was the Aggies’ third leading scorer, averaging 10 points per game, along with 4.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest. Anthony started in all 28 games that he played in, missing just one game.

According to verbalcommits.com, Anthony is the third Utah State player to enter the transfer portal since Craig Smith left the program to be the head coach at Utah. Karson Stastny and Rollie Worster are also in the portal.

Ryan Odom took over as the head coach of the Aggies after a successful stint at UMBC. It’s a possibility for Anthony to want to reunite with his head coach and transfer to Utah.
