SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz will increase the number of fans allowed at home games to 3,902 when they face the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night.

The team had previously allowed 1,500 fans to attend games, though the team reported 1,932 fans in attendance at previous home games, representing the number of tickets that had been sold.

“Utah Jazz games at Vivint Arena will be played with a limited number of fans this season,” the team announced. “The safety of our fans, employees, players and coaches is our number one priority.”

“You’ll notice a variety of changes that have been implemented to create a safe, fun, and enjoyable experience. The changes include requiring masks for all attendees, contactless entry, a no bag policy, digital tickets, socially distanced seating and more.”

According to a previous release, the team implemented several safety measures and protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including mandatory face coverings, mobile entry and screening procedures at all entrances, plexiglass barriers at point of sale locations, and social distancing signage.

The arena has earned its Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) certification, an NBA requirement for return to play, for its cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention protocols.

The Jazz are one of nine teams currently allowing fans to attend games live in the arenas. Cleveland, Indiana, Houston, Miami, New Orleans, Toronto (games played in Tampa), and the Orlando Magic all also host fans.

Fans are required to undergo a health screening on the Utah Jazz app before entering Vivint Arena.
