Utah Football Receives Commitment From Legacy Recruit Jonah Elliss

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah football received a commitment from legacy recruit linebacker Jonah Elliss.

Elliss is a three-star outside linebacker from Moscow, Idaho. He is the son of former Utah great Luther Elliss.
Jonah is the No. 91 ranked outside linebacker according to 247Sports and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Idaho.
Elliss announced his verbal commitment on Twitter on Friday afternoon.
“100% committed. Ready for the next chapter of my life,” Elliss wrote,” Thank you God for blessing me and allowing me to play at the next level. Thank you to all the coaches and teams who have spent time recruiting me. Thank you to everyone in my life that has supported me throughout this process!!!”

Utah defensive line coach Lewis Powell was the primary recruiter for Elliss, who received offers from Air Force Army, Boise State, Idaho, Washington State, Weber State and Louisville.
Elliss joins seven recruits to have verbally committed to Utah in the 2021 class. That list includes four-star QB Peter Costelli, three-star RB Ricky Parks, three-star ILB Trey Reynolds, three-star OG Koli Faaiu, three-star WR Deamikkio Nathan, three-star DE Viliami Pouha and Snow College DT Tevita Fotu.
Father Is A Former Ute
Jonah’s father Luther is one of the best defensive linemen in school history. He was a consensus all-american and the WAC Defensive Player of the Year in 1994. Luther spent 8 seasons with the Detroit Lions from 1995-03 and the 2004 season with the Denver Broncos. He is currently the defensive line coach for the University of Idaho.
