SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Jarrell Brantley and Justin Wright-Foreman have no delusions about where they stand in their pro basketball careers. They understand they are in an important development phase with the Salt Lake Stars.

That development isn’t confined to what happens on the court.

“They want to see me as you know, you have to be a good person and be in this organization as well because this organization breeds great people,” said guard Wright-Foreman during the Stars media day. “Basketball wise, probably being a creator, being more of a facilitator but also being myself which is a scorer. So when you just pick it up on a defensive end, and you know, just try to be the leader of a team and just be as vocal as I can.”

Brantley is excited that he will actually get to play in real games instead of sitting on the sidelines.

“I’ve been with the Jazz for the last few months. So now, the biggest thing for me is I get to use what I’ve learned. And so you know, it’s easy to grow…and I think it will be fun,” said Brantley.

The 6’7″ College of Charleston product learned from the Jazz that he always needs to be ready to play in a game.  He’s already figured out his role going forward.

“We have Donovan, and so many good players, I think my role is, you know, be able to guard multiple positions and hit the open shots, be vocal and, and do whatever they need me to do,” he continued.

Stars head coach Martin Schiller and his staff said they’ve come up with a development plan for Brantley, Wright-Foreman and the rest of the team to get them to the next level. Because the Jazz are loaded right now, he’ll have plenty of time to work with the younger guys including fellow second-round draft pick Miye Oni who was assigned to the team on Thursday.

“I believe at a certain point in time we may even get other guys assigned because the team is so good that the end of the bench guys just don’t get reps…so we could see some good players with us,” Brantley concluded.

Wright-Foreman expects to make the most out of his time with the Stars.

“I expect to learn, you know, learn my new teammates, make new bonds that will never be broken…Just give my all and just show to everybody not just the Jazz organization but that I can compete and that I’m not small as people say.  But I’m a competitor at the end of the day and I just want to win basketball games.  And hopefully bring that to the Jazz when I get there and you know, help us win,” Wright-Foreman said.

The Stars season begins this Sunday at Sioux Falls.
