SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Members of media and Utah Jazz fans scoured the team’s 2019-20 season schedule when it was released on Monday. They sought to determine trends and how the team might fair when the season ends next April.

On the latest Jazz Notes podcast, KSL’s Jeremiah Jensen and Cleon Wall took a different approach.

The two dove into the schedule to determine which home and road games they would pay to see if money were not a factor.

Jensen’s number one game at Vivint Smarthome Arena this upcoming season hearkened back to one of the best games in Salt Lake City last season.

“I want to see Giannis (Antetokounmpo) and the (Milwaukee) Bucks,”  Jensen announced.

Donovan Mitchell scored 46 points and Antetokounmpo 43 in Utah’s victory over Milwaukee on March 2 of last year.

“(The Jazz) are going to get a shot at the Lakers twice, the Clippers twice…Houston is coming to Salt Lake City twice…You only get to see an Eastern Conference team once (in Salt Lake),” Jensen said.

Which led to him picking the Philadelphia 76ers as his second choice.

“Joel Embiid.  There is a bit of a rivalry that has come up between Donovan Mitchell and Ben Simmons.  And the Sixers just dominated them last year.”

The Sixers play in Salt Lake on November 6 and the Bucks are in town two nights later.

Jensen also said he wouldn’t mind seeing the new-look Los Angeles Clippers on October 30.

Wall tried to get a bit more creative after those choices.

“I’m going to pick the Clippers, but on April 7.  The early portion (of the season) in October, I’m not sure Paul George is going to be playing (after shoulder surgery)…I’m picking this one late in the season because I’m expecting George and Kahwi Leonard to be healthy.  And there is going to be jockeying for seeding…As long as those two teams are healthy, I think that could be a fantastic game,” said Wall.

He then picked the Los Angele Lakers on December 4 because he would like to see how Anthony Davis and LeBron James play together in person.

As for road venues, Wall and Jensen were in agreement –  go to San Francisco on November 11.

“It’s a brand new arena and the Warriors are fun,”  said Jensen.  “Everyone is down on the Warriors right now, but I think they are going to be very competitive especially once Klay Thompson gets back later in the season…I still think they have a dynamic element with Steph (Curry).  We’ll see how D’Angelo Russell enters the mix there and adapts to his surroundings and see how they integrate him into their lineup. ”

Wall picked Houston on February 5 (Utah’s only game at the Toyota Center) and Boston (the new underdog in the Eastern Conference) on March 6 as two other possibilities.

Wall and Jensen also ranked the best and worst nationally televised games of the year and the non-obvious teams that they can’t wait to see the Jazz play this upcoming season.  Make sure you download and listen to the latest Jazz Notes podcast for that conversation.
