BYU Basketball Prepares For NCAA Tournament Second Round

DENVER – BYU basketball is moving on to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 3 seed Wisconsin Badgers from the Big Ten Conference.
Wisconsin took down Montana on Thursday, 85-66 to advance to the second round of the “Big Dance.”
BYU vs. Wisconsin will tip-off at 5:45 p.m. (MDT) and be televised nationally on network CBS. The game will take place at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, home of the Denver Nuggets.
It’s the first time BYU basketball is playing in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament since 2011. BYU defeated VCU on Thursday, 80-71.

BYU basketball is 0-2 all-time against the Badgers. The last meeting was in 2011 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Wisconsin won that game, 73-56.
Before that, the other meeting between the programs was in 1931 in Madison.
Wisconsin is 27-9 this season. They are currently ranked No. 13 in the KenPom ratings.
They are coached by Greg Gard, who is in his 10th season leading the Badgers. Wisconsin is looking for its first Sweet 16 appearance since 2017. BYU hasn’t been to the regional semifinal since 2011.

“I don’t know a ton about them. I know they score a lot of points. I know that,” BYU head coach Kevin Young said when asked about Wisconsin. “I know they can have a team where basically everybody can shoot it from three. We’ll have to be dialed in on how exactly we want to guard those guys.
“My coaches have been hard at work trying to make sure that that scout’s dialed and ready. I know they’ve had some super high-scoring games, as I’ve followed it loosely. I really look forward to jumping into the tape and putting a game plan together.”
