BYU Basketball Offers No. 1 Recruit Baba Oladotun

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball is pursuing another No. 1 recruit.
Kevin Young’s BYU program offered No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2027, Baba Oladotun.
This past weekend, college basketball programs could formally begin contact with recruits for the 2027 cycle. Oladotun is projected to be the best in the group.

BYU basketball offers No. 1 recruit Baba Oladotun
The 6-foot-9, 175-pound Oladotun is the No. 1 prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings. He currently attends James Hubert Blake High School, a public institution in Silver Spring, Maryland.
When Oladotun announced his offer from BYU on Instagram, current BYU freshman center Xavion Staton replied, “niceee.”
Like current BYU basketball freshman AJ Dybantsa, a former No. 1 recruit in the 2025 cycle, Oladotun is a guard/forward who has drawn comparisons to NBA legend Kevin Durant.
Top recruit in the 2027 cycle
Eric Bossi from 247Sports had this to say about Oladotun when he debuted at No. 1 in the initial class of 2027 rankings.
A long, lean and mobile wing, Oladotun is already pushing 6-foot-10 with a lot of room to fill out his frame. He has range on his jump shot, he can put the ball on the floor and he’s an elite mover. Although he can be a bit inconsistent at times, Oladotum has shown jaw-dropping flashes of talent and edges out the competition at this point.
BYU’s offer follows Oladotun’s earning of First Team honors at the NBPA Top 100 Camp last week in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

The guard/forward attended the Team USA Men’s Junior National minicamp in San Antonio last month.
Along with BYU, Oladotun has announced recent offers from Auburn, Clemson, Miami, Oregon, Pitt, Texas, and Texas A&M. That goes along with offers from Kentucky, Arizona State, Kansas State, Maryland, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Indiana, UCLA, West Virginia, among others.
