The Cougars are one of the hottest teams in college basketball at the moment. They are tied for the 10th-longest current win streak in college basketball.
BYU’s No. 17 ranking puts them as the highest-ranked team out west (Mountain and Pacific Time Zones). Saint Mary’s from the WCC (No. 19) and the Big Ten’s Oregon Ducks (No. 23) are the two other teams from out west that are ranked in this week’s poll.
BYU is one of four teams from the Big 12 in the rankings. Big 12 Champion Houston leads the group as they moved up to No. 2 in the rankings. The next highest-ranked Big 12 team is Texas Tech at No. 9, followed by Iowa State at No. 12.
Iowa State dropped two spots after the loss to BYU.
BYU now sets its sights on the Big 12 Conference Tournament in Kansas City. The Cougar earned a double-bye in the Big 12 Tournament and the No. 4 seed. BYU will play Iowa State, Cincinnati, or Oklahoma State on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. (MDT).
