SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Jazz center Udoka Azubuike suffered a right leg injury during the Salt Lake City Stars game against the Stockton Kings.

The Stars hosted the Kings at Salt Lake Community College on Friday, November 26.

Late in the first quarter of the game, Azubuike landed awkwardly on the court after jumping into the air to contest a shot by the Kings.

After landing on the hardwood, Azubuike grabbed at his right ankle.

Warning, the video in the tweet below depicts a graphic injury.

Salt Lake City personnel went over to assist the Jazzman after play was halted.

Following a couple of minutes on the baseline, members of the Stars organization, including players, carried Azubuike off the court and into the locker room.

Jazz public relations released the following statement on Azubuike’s injury:

“Udoka Azubuike sustained a right ankle injury during the Salt Lake City Stars game this evening. He is being taken to University of Utah Hospital for further evaluation. Updates will be provided when available.” – Jazz PR

Previous Injury for Udoka Azubuike

This isn’t the first time that Azubuike has suffered a lower leg injury during his time with the Jazz.

During his NBA G League debut in February, the big man suffered a gruesome ankle sprain. The injury caused him to miss valuable experience with the Stars over the following weeks.

During his two seasons with Utah, Azubuike has averaged 0.9 points, 0.9 rebounds, 0.2 blocks, and 0.1 steals in 3.4 minutes per contest in 19 games played. He’s appeared in four Jazz games this season.

Utah selected Azubuike with the No. 27 pick during the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft.

Salt Lake City’s game vs. Stockton can be heard on The Zone Sports Network (1280 AM).
