SALT LAKE CITY – Quin Snyder opted against speaking about his current contract, or his future with the Utah Jazz at Monday’s end-of-season media availability.

The Jazz coach discussed several issues involving the team during his tenure but avoided committing himself to a future with the franchise when asked.

“I continue to maintain that I am not going to discuss my contractual situation publicly,” Snyder said. “It’s not something I want to do or am comfortable doing.”

Snyder is reportedly under contract for another season with the Jazz and has an extension on the table, but has yet to divulge his plans ahead of the 2022-23 season.

The Jazz coach underwent hip surgery last week, and as a result, has yet to sit down with CEO Danny Ainge, General Manager Justin Zanik, or his assistant coaches to discuss his future.

However, Snyder indicated that he plans to fulfill the traditional offseason requirements as planned.

“From an ownership standpoint, I appreciate the things that Ryan [Smith is] doing, I have great respect for him and his vision for the franchise,” Snyder said. “And then working with Justin and Danny has been great.

The coach spoke in past tense about his time in Utah, what may be considered a tipping point about his future plans, but was quick to acknowledge that there was little to read into his language.

“My family has loved it here, and don’t judge by tense when I speak,” Snyder said. “My family loves it here.”

Snyder’s name has been linked to multiple jobs around the NBA, most notably the Los Angeles Lakers vacant coach position, and as a preferred replacement for Gregg Popovich by the San Antonio Spurs.

The Lakers have reportedly begun interviews for their open position, while like Snyder, Popovich has rejected the opportunity to address his future coaching plans.

Snyder is the team’s second-winningest coach behind Hall of Famer Jerry Sloan.

After eight seasons with the team, Snyder has a coaching record of 372-264 with three opening-round playoff series wins. The Jazz finished with the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 49-33 this season.
