SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert was named to the All-NBA third team. It’s the third time Gobert has earned All-NBA honors, as the second consecutive season he has been named to the All-NBA third team. Gobert earned second team honors in 2017.

The French center is the only Jazz player represented to be represented on the All-NBA teams. Gobert was joined by Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook, Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons, Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum to make up the third team.

This is the second regular-season award earned by Gobert who was named to the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team last week.

Gobert averaged 15.1 points, 13.5 rebounds, and two blocks per game, and earned his first All-Star nod in February. Gobert led the NBA in total rebounds this season with 916 over 68 games to earn All-Defensive and All-NBA honors.

The star center came in third place for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. Gobert was bested by All-NBA first team members Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis. Gobert had won each of the two previous Defensive Player of the Year Awards

Davis and Antetokounmpo were joined on the All-NBA first team by Houston Rockets guard James Harden, Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic,  Lakers forward LeBron James.

The All-NBA second team was made up of former Weber State star and Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Chris Paul, Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam, Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard, and Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic.

Davis, Jokic, and Gobert edged 76ers center Joel Embiid out of the All-NBA race after making the second team each of the last two seasons. Gobert received one first team vote, 19 second team votes, and 48 third-team votes.

Donovan Mitchell received one (3 points) second team vote, and seven third team votes (one point) for a total of 10 points. He received the 22nd most of any NBA player this year.
