SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Head coach Quin Snyder ties legend Frank Layden for second most regular season wins in Utah Jazz history with their win over the Detroit Pistons.

Quin Snyder ties Frank Layden with 277 regular season wins as head coach of the Utah Jazz. Layden has 5 more wins overall than Snyder, including playoff victories.

Snyder became the head coach of the Jazz in 2014. Layden was at the helm in Utah from 1981-88. The current Jazz head coach tied Layden in 492 games. Layden coached 571 games for the Jazz and went 277-294 in the regular season and 18-23 in the playoffs. Overall, Layden is 295-317 during his stint with the Jazz.

Snyder is now 277-215 in the regular season and 13-21 in the playoffs. Overall, Snyder is 290-236. The late Jerry Sloan is the all-time leader in wins in franchise history with 1,232.

Layden was named NBA Coach of the Year in 1984 and has his No. 1 jersey retired in the rafters at Vivint Smart Home Arena. In Snyder’s six seasons (before this season) at the helm, he has led the Jazz to the playoffs four times. In his first two trips to the postseason, Utah advanced to the second round. The last two trips, the Jazz were eliminated in the first round. Last season in Orlando, they lost to the Denver Nuggets in seven games.

Snyder tied Layden with a win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday afternoon, 96-86. Donovan Mitchell led the way with 28 points. Mike Conley added 22 points. The duo combined for 50 points in the win.

The Jazz are now 6-4 on the season. They will make their sixth stop on their current seven-game road trip on Tuesday, January 12 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. MST on AT&T SportsNet.
