Keyonte George Nails Three In All-Star Game With Rising Stars Squad

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George got a bid into the All-Star tournament with the Rising Stars team and matched up with some of the NBA’s best.
George finished with three points and two rebounds in nine minutes of action.

Rising Stars Compete Against NBA OG’s
After winning the Rising Stars challenge on Friday, George and his Team C teammates earned a bid into the All-Star game. The Rising Stars squad was matched up with Shaquille O’Neal’s Team OGs with the likes of Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and others.
George opened the game with a three which was a sign to come as the Rising Stars were more competitive than some may have thought. The young players held a lead over the OGs on four separate occasions.
Ultimately, the experience shined through in the end as Shaq’s team pulled out a 42-35 win to advance to the final.

After the game, George spoke about what it meant to be able to play on the All-Star stage.
“The game was cool β game was fun [to be] able to play an All-Star game,” George said. “The new format is cool. It gives young guys the opportunity to play in the big game. Obviously, itβs a goal of mine to make the real game, so it’s great to see how it felt.”
Players on the teams that are eliminated in the opening round of the All-Star tournament took home $25,000.
Keyonte George Competes In All-Star Tournament With Rising Stars Squad
The Rising Stars Challenge featured four, seven-man teams competing in a three-game tournament.
New this season, the winning roster in the Rising Stars Challenge will earn an opportunity to compete in the reformatted NBA All-Star tournament against three rosters comprised of traditional All-Stars.
Those three teams, and the winner of the Rising Stars Tournament, will compete in a three-game tournament to crown an All-Star champion. The first team to score 40 points will advance.
The Rising Stars Tournament was held on Friday, February 14, while the All-Star Tournament will occur on Sunday, February 16 at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Chris Mullin selected Keyonte George in the Rising Stars Challenge draft. The Jazz sophomore was named to the Rising Stars draft pool for the second consecutive season.
Joining George on Mullin’s team was San Antonio Spurs rookie Stephon Castle, Los Angeles Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht, Phoenix Suns rookie Ryan Dunn, Golden State Warriors sophomore Trayce Jackson-Davis, and Memphis Grizzlies rookie Zach Edey.

In the championship game on Friday, George hit the game-winning shot to advance his team to the tournament on Sunday. George totaled 13 points in two games to help lead Chris Mullin’s roster to the Rising Stars title.
George is averaging 16.2 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 38 percent from the floor and 34 percent from the three-point line.
