SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz trailed by as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter and came back to take the lead but lost to the Golden State Warriors.

The Jazz had a lead with under one minute left in the game but a three-pointer by Warriors star Stephen Curry handed Utah the loss. Jordan Clarkson led the way with 41 points off the bench. Bojan Bogdanovic added 27 points. Rudy Gobert had a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Curry scored 36 points to lead the Warriors. Jordan Poole poured in 20 points off the bench. Kent Bazemore chipped in 19 points.

Utah played without Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell again due to injuries.

Strong First Quarter, Mild Second For Jazz In First Half

The first half was back and forth throughout. In the first quarter alone, the lead changed seven times and was tied seven times. Utah made five triples in the opening quarter but the Warriors outscored the Jazz 31-30.

Of those 31 points for Golden State, 18 of them came from Steph Curry and Draymond Green. Bogdanovic had 11 points in the first quarter to lead the Jazz.

The second quarter was much the same as the lead changed 8 times and was tied 5 times. The Warriors outscored the Jazz 23-19 and took a 54-49 lead at the half.

Through 24 minutes of play, Stephen Curry was up to 15 points as was Bojan Bogdanovic. Jordan Clarkson added 12 points off the bench but was 0-for-8 from the three-point line.

Jazz Fourth Quarter Surge Comes Up Short In Loss To Warriors

The third quarter was not kind to the Jazz as they struggled hitting from the three-point line, hitting just 2-of-10. Bogdanovic added 10 points to his total of 25 points through three quarters. Steph Curry had 14 points in the third, along with 10 from Kent Bazemore.

Jordan Poole put the icing on the third quarter when he hit a halfcourt shot to give the Warriors an 89-75 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The start of the fourth quarter was not looking good for the Jazz as Golden State looked like they were going to break the game open. Utah stuck with it and started chipping at the lead. They were trailing 105-92 with 6:43 left in the game. After trailing by 18 at one point, the Jazz cut the lead in half before Steph Curry hit a bucket to put them back up by 11.

Jordan Clarkson exploded during a 12-0 run to give the Jazz a one-point lead with under two minutes. He then hit a huge contested three to give the Jazz a two-point lead after the Warriors took the lead back briefly. With 13 seconds left, Steph Curry hit a huge three to put the Warriors on top by one.

When the Jazz had the ball, Clarkson took the ball to the rack but the defense was strong and the officials didn’t call a foul. The Jazz were forced to foul Curry, who made both free throws to put them up by three with 5.4 seconds left.

Clarkson missed the potential game-tying three-pointer.

The Jazz dropped their record to 50-19 on the season. They will play their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday, May 12 against the Portland Trail Blazers. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. MDT and will be televised on ESPN and AT&T SportsNet.
