SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz dropped their fourth straight game with a 111-91 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Jazz were missing nine players from the roster, including their entire center rotation of Rudy Gobert, Hassan Whiteside, Udoka Azubuike, Rudy Gay, and Norvel Pelle.

The Cavaliers got 23 points from second-year forward Lamar Stevens while Jordan Clarkson led the Jaz with 22 points.

First Quarter

The Jazz started Mike Conley, Donovan Mitchell, Joe Ingles, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Royce O’Neale which as expected, gave the Cavaliers a notable size advantage.

The Cavaliers’ game plan early in the first quarter was clear, push the ball into the paint to Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley and let them go to work over the smaller Jazz defenders.

The two seven-footers combined for 12 points and five rebounds in the quarter while the Jazz were led by Clarkson who had seven points.

After one, the Jazz trailed the Cavaliers 27-24.

Second Quarter

The Jazz struggled to shoot the ball early in the first half and opted to attack the bigger Cavaliers defenders off the dribble instead.

It was a successful strategy for Mitchell who scored 11 first half points and Eric Paschall who added 16 on a perfect 7-7 shooting from the floor. Ingles was ejected midway through the second quarter picking up his second technical foul for arguing with the officials on a blown call against Bogdanovic.

The Cavaliers outrebounded the Jazz 26-16 in the half led by Markkanen, Mobley, and Darius Garland who had six each.

At the break, the Jazz trailed the Cavaliers 58-52.

Third Quarter

The Cavaliers opened the second half on a 20-6 run to take a 20 point lead 78-58, their biggest of the game.

After a valiant effort from the Jazz in the first half, the size, depth, and execution of the Cavaliers finally broke through.

At one point in the quarter, the Cavaliers used their size to go on a 21-0 run, limiting the Jazz to just 16 points in the frame.

After three, the Jazz trailed Cleveland 88-68.

Fourth Quarter

The Cavaliers steadily pulled away from the Jazz throughout the fourth quarter as though Quin Snyder left his starters in for much of the game, there wasn’t much left for the team to play for.

For the third straight game, the Jazz gave up an offensive career-high to an opposing player, allowing Darius Garland to record 15 assists to go along with his 11 points and 10 rebounds to complete his first triple-double.

The Jazz were led by Clarkson who scored 22 points in an efficient 8-16 shooting but shot just 40 percent as a team and 34 percent from the three-point line.

The Cavaliers beat the Jazz 114-96, building on the season-long four-game losing streak.
