SALT LAKE CITY – In the second quarter against the Pelicans, Isaiah Collier and KJ Martin showed exactly why their playstyles complement each other so well.
Off of an outlet pass, Collier made a heads-up play by tipping the ball to the trailing Martin and he did the rest.

In five games with the Jazz so far, Martin has thrown down 12 dunks and is shooting a jaw-dropping 81 percent on 2-point field goals.
Meanwhile, Collier has had a surprisingly effective first year and could end up breaking John Stockton’s record for most assists by a Jazz rookie.
The two have already combined for numerous highlights in a short amount of time on the court together.

In the first half against New Orleans, Martin had five points, one rebound, and one assist. Collier filled up the stat sheet with two points, four assists, two rebounds, one steal, and one block.
Despite an impressive 17-point outing from Brice Sensabaugh, Utah trailed 66-57 at the break.
Jazz Host Pelicans In Battle Of West’s Bottomfeeders
Utah and New Orleans both have bottom-five records in the NBA. Despite this, both teams have had almost questionable levels of success following the All-Star break. The Jazz are coming off a gritty victory and have also won three of their last seven. Meanwhile, the Pelicans have won four of their last six.
The two teams are currently 14th and 15th in the Western Conference and only separated by 0.5 games. This is the last matchup of the season series with New Orleans already having two wins over Utah under its belt from earlier this year.
If the Jazz fall to the Pelicans for the third time this season, the gap in the standings between the two teams will increase as well as Utah’s chances of securing top odds in the 2025 NBA Draft.
