SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Jazz players nearly unanimously said “Die Hard” isn’t a Christmas movie.

The Jazz released a video on Christmas Eve asking players to decide between their four favorite holiday movies, holding onto three, and discarding the fourth.

The four movies were “Elf,” “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” “Home Alone,” and the action classic.

Of the 11 Jazz players who were asked to pick which Christmas movie to discard, ten of them chose “Die Hard.”

Only star forward Lauri Markkanen picked “Elf.”

Similarly, when pressed on the three movies not including “Die Hard,” Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson chose elf.

However, Malik Beasley, who opened the video asking if “Die Hard” was a Christmas movie, chose “Elf” as his favorite of the four.

First-year head coach Will Hardy was the only person that chose to discard Jim Carrey’s “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” calling the movie “terrifying.”

Die Hard Out Early In Christmas Movie Bracket

Hans Olsen and Scott Garrard hosted their own Christmas Movie Bracket allowing KSL Sports Zone listeners to vote for their favorite holiday films.

Like the Jazz players, “Die Hard” was eliminated surprisingly early in the voting.

The 1988 classic won its first-round match-up with “The Holiday” but was voted out after running into the 1969 cartoon “Frosty The Snowman” in the second round.

“How The Grinch Stole Christmas” suffered a similar fate as it was ousted in the second round at the hands of “The Santa Clause.”

“Home Alone” and “Elf” met in the third round where the Will Ferrell comedy advanced to the semifinals past the John Hughes hit.

None of the four Christmas Movies the Jazz offered made it to the final round of voting in the KSL Sports bracket as “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” downed Elf, while “A Christmas Story” knocked off “The Santa Clause.”

Ultimately, KSL Sports listeners voted for “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” as the top Christmas movie.
