Hassan Whiteside Hits Hook, Helps Jazz Run Against Spurs

SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz center Hassan Whiteside hit a hook shot during a scoring burst in the second quarter of Utah’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs hosted the Jazz at AT&T Center on Friday, March 11.
With 6:21 remaining in the first half, Trent Forrest inbounded the ball to Whiteside, who roses up against the San Antonio defense and hit a baby hook shot with his left hand from nine feet out. The hook shot gave the Jazz a 44-41 lead.

Whiteside’s shot was part of an 11-2 run by Utah. The spurt featured four points by the Jazz center, including a dunk.

At halftime, the Jazz owned a 59-50 lead.
During the opening half, Whiteside had nine points on 4-4 shooting. He added five rebounds in eight minutes of action.
Jazz vs. Spurs
With 17 games left in the regular season, the fourth-seeded Jazz will be closely monitoring the playoff of the Dallas Mavericks who sit in the fifth seed.
Dallas trails the Jazz by just a game and a half, and with another meeting between the two teams set for March 27, every game will be crucial for the standings.

The Jazz are 5-2 since returning from the All-Star break but will be missing a key cog as they look to build on their recent success.
Bogdanovic, who will miss Friday’s game, is on a historic shooting streak for the Jazz. The forward had knocked down a franchise-record 21 three-pointers in his three previous games, the most by any Jazzman over a three-game stretch.
Bogdanovic had also led the Jazz in scoring in each of their three previous games.
