SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Ricky Rubio just can’t seem to find solid footing. The former Utah Jazz guard, who signed with the Phoenix Suns in the summer of 2019 is on the move again. According to multiple reports, the Spanish guard has been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a blockbuster deal that will move Chris Paul to the Suns.

Rubio seemed disheartened by the news based on his response on Twitter.

“… what a business 🙃,” Rubio tweeted.

The Thunder will be Rubio’s fourth team in the last four years. In 2017, the guard was traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Jazz in exchange for a first-round draft pick. Rumors spread during Rubio’s final season in Utah that the team was attempting to trade him to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Mike Conley.

The Jazz acquired Conley before last year’s draft, ending Rubio’s tenure in Utah. The Spanish guard signed a three-year $51 million deal with Phoenix in the summer of 2019 and spent one season with the SUns where the team nearly qualified for the Western Conference playoffs.

Unfortunately, Rubio may not want to get too comfortable in his new city. With an eye towards a full rebuild, the Thunder may look to flip some of their newly acquired pieces throughout the season for additional draft picks and young players.

Rubio, 30, has career averages of 11.3 points, 7.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds. In addition to Rubio, the Suns are sending forward Kelly Oubre, guard Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque, and a 2022 first-round draft pick.

The Suns will receive Paul and forward Abdel Nader.
