Donovan Mitchell Teases New D.O.N. Issue #2 Shoe

Apr 10, 2020, 8:00 PM | Updated: Apr 16, 2020, 4:32 pm

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Though Donovan Mitchell may be sidelined as the NBA sits idle, he seems to be teasing that a new signature shoe might be on the horizon.

Mitchell, an Adidas athlete received his first signature shoe in July of 2019 and has seen a wave of custom colorways released seemingly monthly since the initial red and blue D.O.N. Issue #1 debuted.

Late Friday night, Mitchell took to Twitter to address the issue for hungry sneakerheads.

Saturday morning, Mitchell gave fans their first taste of the new model in an image from the NBA2K video game.

Shorty after, Mitchell showed the first official image of the shoe from the NBA2K twitter account. The shoes are available for download in the video game.

In December, photos of the supposed D.O.N Issue #2 edition were leaked on Weibo. Adidas did not confirm the alleged second generation shoes. Though leaked photos appear to me a near identical match to the video game rendering.

The pictures show shoes that feature the Adidas logo, Donovan Mitchellโ€™s spider/basketball logo, and the letters D.O.N on orange, yellow, blue, and green colorways.

In recent weeks, Mitchell has hinted at the potential for a second signature shoe to debut in 2020.

On a recent episode of the podcast Drive and Dish, hosted by teammate Georges Niang, Mitchell wouldn’t commit to a new shoe but stopped short of saying it wouldn’t happen.

โ€œI wonโ€™t confirm or deny that thereโ€™s another shoe,โ€ Mitchell shared, โ€œBut things are looking pretty good, letโ€™s just leave it at that.โ€

Mitchell and Adidas set a pricepoint on the initial release of his shoes at $100 to make sure the shoe was accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Fans will have to wait until August for the official release of the All-Star guard’s second signature shoe.
