Report: Former Utah Big Man Signs Massive Extension With Toronto Raptors

SALT LAKE CITY – Former University of Utah center Jakob Poeltl is cashing in during NBA free agency, reportedly agreeing to a four-year $104M deal with the Toronto Raptors.
ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported the signing on Tuesday, July 1. The Austrian-born center will be 30-years-old on October 15, 2025.

Poeltl has spent the entirety of his nine-year career playing for the Raptors and San Antonio Spurs.
He averaged a career-highs in points (14.5) and rebounds (9.6) in 2024-25.
About Jakob Poeltl
The 7’0, 245-pound center averaged 15.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 47 games for the Utes.
Poeltl set a Utah freshman record with 63 blocks, swatting 1.9 shots each night. He earned Pac-12 All-Freshman recognition and was named to the CBSSports.com Freshman All-American team.
Poeltl poured in 17.2 points and grabbed 9.1 boards per game as a sophomore to establish himself as an NBA lottery prospect.

Toronto selected Poeltl with the ninth overall pick of the 2016 NBA draft. He played a career-high 82 games as an NBA sophomore.
Poeltl was traded to San Antonio in July 2018 as part of the trade that sent Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors.
He signed a multi-year deal with San Antonio two years later. The Spurs traded Poeltl back to Toronoto at the trade deadline in 2023.
