Free Agency Day One: Juzang Out, Mykhailiuk In For Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz made three major decisions on the opening day of free agency that will reshape their roster for the 2025-26 season.
The team waived wing Johnny Juzang, guaranteed the contract of veteran Svi Mykhailiuk, and bought out former Sixth Man of the Year Jordan Clarkson.

Jazz Waive Juzang, Retain Mykahiliuk
The Jazz had to decide the fates of Juzang and Mykhailiuk, both of whom faced contract guarantee dates on the first day of free agency.
Early Monday morning, the team waived Juzang after three seasons in Utah, allowing the sharpshooting wing to hit the NBA market as an unrestricted free agent.
Juzang averaged 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists while shooting 43 percent from the floor and 37 percent from three in 64 appearances.
The Utah Jazz are waiving forward Johnny Juzang, making him a free agent, sources tell ESPN. The 24-year-old started 18 games and averaged 8 points in 20 minutes last season, shooting 38% from 3, and will receive interest from teams.

The Jazz signed Juzang to a four-year, $12 million deal, though only the first year of the deal was guaranteed.
The UCLA product remained unsigned on the first day of free agency, but will likely find a suitor ahead of the 2025-26 season.
The Jazz opted to retain Mykhailiuk, picking up year two of his four-year, $15 million deal.
The Kansas product averaged a career-high 8.8 points and 2.0 assists while shooting 39 percent from the floor and 34 percent from the three-point line.
The Ukrainian guard will earn $3.7 million next season in Utah.
Jordan Clarkson to Sign With Knicks
After agreeing to a buyout with the Jazz Monday morning, Clarkson found his new home within hours of free agency opening.
NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that Clarkson will sign with the New York Knicks once he clears waivers with the Jazz.

Clarkson averaged 17.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 342 appearances with the Jazz, and had one year and $14.2 million left on his contract.
The guard was the longest tenured Jazzman, having been acquired by the team in late 2019.
The Jazz now have 13 players on guaranteed contracts for the 2025-26 season.
