About the NBA All-Star Game

For the first time ever, San Francisco will be the home of NBA All-Star weekend. It isn’t the first time for the Bay Area though. In 1967, Cow Palace in Daly City hosted the ASG.

With a new city comes a new format. In an effort to increase competitiveness and watchability, the NBA opted to change the All-Star Game to a mini-tournament with four teams and three games. The winning teams from Game 1 and Game 2 will advance to face each other in the championship. The first team to reach 40 points in each game will move on.

The 24 All-Star selections were divided into three teams of eight. The fourth team will be the winning Rising Stars team.

The 2025 NBA All-Star selections from the Eastern Conference are Jalen Brunson, Donovan Mitchell, Karl-Anthony Towns, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo (injured), Damian Lillard, Darius Garland, Jaylen Brown, Cade Cunningham, Tyler Herro, Evan Mobley, Pascal Siakam, and Trae Young (injury replacement).

The 2025 NBA All-Star selections from the Western Conference are Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokić, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Anthony Edwards, Anthony Davis (injured), James Harden, Jaren Jackson Jr., Alperen Sengun, Jalen Williams, Victor Wembanyama, and Kyrie Irving (injury replacement).

Oklahoma City head coach Mark Daigneault, a Thunder assistant coach, Cleveland head coach Kenny Atkinson, and a Cavaliers assistant coach will lead the four All-Star teams.
