Rams Head Coach Sean McVay Calls Former Utah Safety Terrell Burgess ‘Standout’ In Camp

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay called former University of Utah safety Terrell Burgess a “standout” during the team’s training camp.

Burgess and the Rams are currently practicing in preparation for the start of the 2020 NFL season. Los Angeles is holding its training camp at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California.

“I’ve been really impressed with all these guys. But those two young safeties, when you look at Terrell Burgess and Jordan Fuller, they have really been standouts the last couple days,” McVay said of the rookie from Utah football.

The Rams selected Burgess with the 104th overall pick during the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft in April.

An impressive performance in camp could earn Burgess some playing time during the regular season for a team that missed the postseason one year after reaching the Super Bowl.

Burgess and the Rams will kick-off their 2020 slate of games against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, September 13. The game will broadcast on KSL TV at 6:20 p.m. (MDT).

Terrell Burgess at Utah

The San Marcos, California native appeared in four games during his first season with the Utes in 2016.

Burgess played in all 13 games the following season, including one start on defense. He finished his sophomore campaign with 18 tackles and a tackle for loss.

As a junior in 2018, Burgess appeared in all 14 of Utah’s games. He started two games. Burgess recorded 16 tackles and 3 pass breakups that year.
