Former NFL Quarterback Ranks Taysom Hill, Zach Wilson Among Top 40 QBs

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former NFL quarterback and current NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms ranked former BYU gunslingers Taysom Hill and Zach Wilson among the league’s top throwers.

Simms released his top 40 NFL quarterbacks list on June 24.
The former NFLer listed Hill and Wilson in the top 27 of his rankings.
Simms ranked Hill as the No. 24 QB in the league and Wilson as the NFL’s 27th best signal-caller.
Notably, Hill was listed one spot above fellow New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston. Wilson was slotted one spot above the only player to go ahead of him in the 2021 NFL Draft, Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Taysom Hill
After Drew Brees announced his retirement following the 2020 season, Hill entered the offseason as a candidate to replace the future hall of famer. The former BYU QB and Winston will battle in training camp to become New Orleans’ next starter.

The beginning of the 2021 campaign will mark the start of Hill’s fifth season in the league. During his four years in the NFL, the former Cougar great has thrown for 1,047 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 70.1 completion rate. He’s also run the ball 151 times for 809 yards and 11 touchdowns. Hill has 30 receptions for 336 yards and seven touchdowns as well. During the 2020 season, he started multiple games for the Saints.
Zach Wilson
Wilson was selected by the New York Jets with the No. 2 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft.

He is currently battling for the Jets’ starting quarterback position. Wilson is the clear frontrunner to start Week 1 for New York.
