Tony Finau Posts Record-Tying Round At Mexico Open

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah’s Tony Finau end his run at the 2022 Mexico Open with a record-tying final round to secure a top-two finish.
The Mexico Open took place at Vidanta Vallarta in Villa Hidalgo, Mexico.
Finau carded a fourth round score of 63 or eight-under-par on Sunday, May 1.
His final round helped him tie Brandon Wu for a course record score. The round also tied Finau with Wu for a second place finish.

He ended his final round by playing the last six holes at five-under-par for the day. It was only the third time he’s done that on the PGA Tour.
Finau finished the tourney with a score of 16-under-par.
“Definitely a confidence builder type of round, no matter what happens today,” Finau said after the tournament. “This is a step in the right direction for me this season.”
Spain’s Jon Rahm captured the victory with a final score of 17-under-par.

The total purse for the event was $7.3 million.
Finau is currently ranked 25th on the PGA Tour.
