Kyle Whittingham Expects Levani Damuni To Have Productive Season

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Utes linebacker Levani Damuni was sidelined with an injury last season, but he’s set to come back in a big way in 2025.
Head coach Kyle Whittingham highlighted Damuni’s previous seasons and said they expect him to be a difference-maker next season.
“Levani Damuni was missed last year,” Whittingham said. “He is now back 100% healthy. He was one of the leading tacklers for our team the year prior, when he was healthy. We’re expecting him to have a productive year for us.”
Two years ago, Damuni was ranked 36th on our 60 in 60 list. He missed last year’s list due to the injury.

About Utah’s Levani Damuni
Damuni is a graduate student linebacker from Providence, Utah.
Coming out of high school, Damuni was a four-star prospect, ranked the nation’s 18th-best inside linebacker, and Utah’s fifth-best recruit.
Damuni was also the 2016 Logan Herald All-Valley Player of the Year, the 2015 Logan Herald All-Valley Defensive Player of the Year, and earned all-state and all-region honors twice.
Prior to his time with Utah, Damuni spent four years at Stanford.
As a Cardinal, Damuni earned the Outstanding Senior Award, was a 2022 All-Pac-12 honorable mention linebacker, made Phil Steele’s 2022 All-Pac-12 fourth team, and earned the Greg Piers Award- Special Teams. As a senior in 2022, Damuni was a team captain and led the team in tackles with 79.
In 2023, played in all 13 games with seven starts and led Utah in tackles with 87. He also posted 2.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. He was forced to miss the entire 2024 season with an injury.
Damuni’s father played football at Utah State.
