SALT LAKE CITY – Safety Rabbit Evans has a chance to build on his promising 2024 season as the Utah Utes look to rebound from a down campaign.
Evans started slowly last season but came on to record 34 tackles and two tackles for a loss on the back end of Utah’s defense.
“We didn’t have him the previous spring, so he got a little bit of a slow start,” Kyle Whittingham said of Evans. “But by the end of the season, he was playing outstanding football. We’re excited about him and what he is going to do for our defense this year.”
About Utah’s Rabbit Evans
The 6’1, 197-pound senior played his prep football at Jersey Village High School near Jacksonville, Florida. He recorded 58 tackles and three interceptions as a senior in 2021, earning All-District recognition.
He played two seasons (18 games) for Blinn College, rising to a three-star recruit and was considered the No. 6 safety by 247Sports.com in 2023. Evans made 76 tackles, two pass breakups, and recovered a fumble at Blinn College.
Evans was named to the NCJCA first-team All-America and SWJCFC All-Conference following his sophomore season.

Evans started slowly at Utah, but developed into making a significant impact by the season’s end. After recording six tackles in his first five appearances, Evans stood out with a then-career-high nine stops in a loss at Arizona State.
He finished the season with 19 tackles in the final three games. Evans set a new career-high with 12 tackles against Iowa State in late November.
