Jordan Clarkson Finalizes Multi-Year Extension With Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY – Jordan Clarkson has officially signed a three-year contract extension with the Utah Jazz.

After agreeing to the deal on July 2, Clarkson and the Jazz finalized the deal on July 7 after the moratorium on free agent signings was lifted.

“Jordan has been an integral piece in our team’s growth during his time here,” Jazz CEO of Basketball Danny Ainge said in a release from the team. “We’re looking forward to him continuing his tenure with our franchise.”

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the veteran guard will finalize a three-year deal worth $55 million to stay in Salt Lake City long-term.

“Utah’s Jordan Clarkson, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and agent Brandon Cavanaugh are finalizing a three-year, $55 million contract renegotiation and extension with the Jazz, sources tell The Athletic, Stadium,” Charania tweeted. “Deal includes next season and two new years through 2025-26.”

Prior to the start of NBA free agency on June 30, Clarkson opted into the final year of his previous contract with the Jazz.

Clarkson has been a member of the Jazz since the 2019-20 season when Utah acquired him from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for former lottery pick Dante Exum.

Clarkson helped the Jazz reach the NBA Playoffs in each of his first three seasons in Utah. He won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award in 2021.

“Signing Jordan to an extension was a priority for our organization this offseason,” Jazz General Manager Justin Zanik said. “Jordan’s incredible talent combined with his positivity and love for our community make him a truly special individual. We’re thrilled to keep him as a key part of our organization.”

Last season, the Jazz narrowly missed the postseason. Clarkson only played in 61 games during the 2022-23 campaign. However, the Missouri product averaged a career-high 20.8 points on 44.4 percent shooting, including 33.8 percent on three-pointers. Clarkson also averaged 4.0 rebounds (tied career-high), 4.4 assists (career-high), 0.2 blocks, and 0.5 steals in 32.6 minutes (career-high) per contest.

Clarkson was originally selected out of Missouri by the Los Angeles Lakers during the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft. During his NBA career, Clarkson has averaged 15.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.2 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game. He’s shot 44.0 percent overall and 33.8 percent from downtown.

He’s played for the Lakers, Cavalierss, and Jazz.
