SALT LAKE CITY – The shorthanded Dallas Mavericks outshot and outlasted the Utah Jazz in a 124-111 win Monday night.

Superstar Luka Doncic missed the game due to a heel injury, while the Mavericks were also without rotation regulars Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith who were traded to the Brooklyn Nets for the yet-to-report Kyrie Irving.

Josh Green led Dallas with a career-high 29 points while Jordan Clarkson led the Jazz with 26.

The Mavericks connected on 15-39 from the three-point line while the Jazz shot just 6-31.

First Quarter

The Mavericks hung with the Jazz early in the first quarter through the first timeout, but they struggled to keep pace as time wore on.

Markkanen and Walker Kessler scored 13 of the Jazz’s first 16 points by making a dedicated effort to get into the paint.

Jaden Hardy led the Mavericks with five points in the first quarter.

After one, the Jazz led Dallas 37-25.

Second Quarter

The Mavericks opened the second quarter on an 11-0 run to trim the Jazz lead to four, 37-36.

Dallas retook the lead 44-43 midway through the quarter as the Jazz struggled to get stops.

The Mavericks shot 9-20 from three in the first half, including 7-13 in the second quarter, led by Tim Hardaway and Jaden Hardy who each knocked down 3-4.

At the half, the Jazz led Dallas 62-60.

Third Quarter

The Mavericks exploded out of the break with a 13-4 run to take a 73-66 loss with 8:46 left in the third.

After knocking down 3-7 threes in the first quarter, the Jazz connected on just two of their next 14 in the second and third quarters.

The Mavericks capitalized off the Jazz misses scoring nine fast break points on a perfect 3-3 shooting.

After three the Jazz trailed Dallas 89-85.

Fourth Quarter

The Jazz retook a 94-92 lead early in the quarter thanks to a 9-3 run to open the fourth.

However, the Mavericks responded with a 13-4 run to rebuild their lead to seven.

Josh Green led all scorers with 29 while Markkanen snapped his 20-game streak of scoring 20 points or more as he led the Jazz with 19.

The Jazz fell to the Mavericks 124-111.
