Utah Jazz Place Player Development Coach Keyon Dooling On Administrative Leave

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz have placed player development coach Keyon Dooling on administrative leave after he was charged by federal officials on Wednesday.
Keyon Dooling was charged by federal officials on Wednesday as allegedly being part of a scheme to defraud the NBA’s health and welfare benefit plan out of approximately $5 million.
The Utah Jazz released the following statement:
“Keyon made us aware of the situation this morning. It is a case concerning his time at the National Basketball Players Association, prior to him joining our organization. He has been put on paid administrative leave. Due to the ongoing legal process, we will refrain from further comment.”

Dooling spent 13 seasons in the NBA after being drafted by the Orlando Magic with the 10th overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft. He started his career with the Los Angeles Clippers from 2000-04. Then he went to the Miami Heat for two seasons before joining the Orlando Magic from 2005-08. Dooling went to New Jersey to play for the Nets from 2008-10.
In 2010, Dooling was with the Milwaukee Bucks until 2011. His last full season was 2011-12 with the Boston Celtics. Dooling ended his career with the Memphis Grizzlies and Reno Bighorns of the NBA G-League in 2013.
The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native was hired as a player development coach for the Utah Jazz on September 25, 2020. Dooling spent time playing international basketball in 1998, winning a gold at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship with Puerto Plata. Then in 1999, he took silver at the FIBA U19 World Championship with Lisbon.
