Donovan Mitchell Misses All-Star Practice

SALT LAKE CITY – Donovan Mitchell missed Saturday’s practice ahead of Sunday’s NBA All-Star game.
The Utah Jazz announced Mitchell would miss the annual practice and media event due to a non-COVID illness.
“Donovan Mitchell will not be at All-Star practice (non-COVID illness),” the team shared.

Team LeBron was set to take part in the second practice and media sessions after Team Durant practiced early Saturday morning in Cleveland.
Mitchell was the first Jazz player taken during the All-Star draft last week, selected by James with the ninth pick of his 11 selections, and the 19th pick overall.
The guard is averaging 25.7 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds this season en route to his third consecutive All-Star appearance.
Mitchell’s teammate Rudy Gobert did go through practice with Team Durant earlier in the morning.

Mitchell is on pace to become only the sixth player since 2000 to average at least 23 points per game over the first five years of his NBA career joining LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant, and Joel Embiid.
The team has not updated Mitchell’s status ahead of Sunday’s All-Star game.
Mitchell has averaged 11.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in his two previous All-Star appearances.

The NBA All-Star game will take place in Cleveland on February 20, with Gobert and Mitchell facing off in the All-Star game Sunday at 6 pm MT on TNT.
