Gobert Named Western Conference Player Of The Week

SALT LAKE CITY – Rudy Gobert has been named the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week for games played between October 25-31.
The Utah Jazz center averaged 16.3 points, 15.5 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks during the week while shooting an impressive 77.8 percent from the field while leading the Jazz to a 3-1 record.
Gobert fell one point short of having a double-double in all four games during the week in the Jazz 107-95 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday.

This is the second time Gobert has won the Western Conference Player of the Week Award, having last earned the honors in March of 2019.
Gobert is the first Jazzman to win the award since forward Bojan Bogdanovic was named the Western Conference Player of the Week in May of last season. That was the second time Bogdanovic earned the award after being named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week with the Indiana Pacers in 2019.
Teammate Donovan Mitchell has also been named Western Conference Player of the Week twice during his career. The guard won both in January and March of 2019.
Mike Conley won the award while playing for the Memphis Grizzlies in March of 2019 while reserve center Hassan Whiteside was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week as a member of the Miami Heat in 2017.

For the year, Gobert is averaging a career-high 16.3 points and a league-best 17.2 rebounds per game. The All-Star center opened the season with five consecutive double-doubles while leading the Jazz to a 5-1 record overall.
Gobert will have a chance to defend his Western Conference Player of the Week award as the Jazz host the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday before traveling to face the Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, and Orlando Magic before the week is through.
Heat guard Jimmy Butler was the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
