SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – There has been no shortage of highlight-reel plays from Utah Jazz second-year center Udoka Azubuike at the Salt Lake City Summer League.

The 6’11, 260-pound behemoth was the 27th pick by the Jazz in the 2020 draft but missed much of his rookie year after suffering a severe ankle injury with the Salt Lake City Stars.

However, in his first two games with the Jazz at summer league, he’s been happy to show off his ridiculous 41-inch vertical leap.

In the Jazz blowout victory Tuesday night over the San Antonio Spurs, Azubuike had four dunks for eight points to go along with 14 rebounds.

In Wednesday night’s game two against the Memphis Grizzlies, Azubuike again proved to be a threat to throw down a big dunk anytime he touched the ball.

In the first half, the second-year big man had another four dunks as part of his 12 point, five rebound performance on a perfect 6-6 shooting.

Through six quarters, Azubuike is shooting an impressive 10-13 shooting as he dominates the smaller summer league opponents.

It should be no surprise the former Kansas Jayhawk is off to such a hot start for the Jazz. Azubuike set an NCAA record for career field goal percentage knocking down over 74 of his attempts from the floor.

But Azubuike can do more than dunk. The center also showed off soft touch around the rim in the first half against the Grizzlies, including a nine-foot hook shot that easily found the bottom of the net.

With performances like this, it might be hard for the Jazz to keep Azubuike off the floor in the regular season, even with the recent addition of Hassan Whiteside.
