Lillard To Host Fourth Weber State Alumni Classic

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Damian Lillard will host the fourth Weber State Basketball Alumni Classic on August 20.

According to the school, the Portland Trail Blazers star and Team USA member will return to Ogden after the Olympics have concluded the host the event.

The event will occur on Friday, August 20 at the Dee Events Center on the Weber State campus. The night will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a shooting stars and 3-point competition, followed by a full basketball game featuring former Wildcats.

Lillard has made a habit of hosting the event every other offseason beginning in 2015, and returning to Ogden in 2017 and 2019.

According to the release, Several former Wildcat players have signed up to compete in the August event including Lance Allred, Davion Berry, Kyle Bullinger, Ryan Cuff, Pat Danley, Nick Hansen, Darin Mahoney, Brenden Morris, Frank Otis, Steve Panos, David Patten, Ryan Richardson, Nic Sparrow and Chris Woods.

Lillard was ranked as just a two-star prospect upon leaving high school, but accepted a scholarship offer to Weber State where he quickly established himself as one of the premier mid-major stars in all of college basketball.

After being named Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year, Lillard would lead Weber State to the Big Sky Championship game twice during his four-year career with the Wildcats, while earning Big Sky Player of the Year honors in 2010 and 2012.

The guard declared for the NBA draft after his redshirt junior season, leaving Weber State with career averages of 18.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.

The sixth overall pick averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.1 rebounds during his inaugural NBA season, earning Rookie of the Year honors. Over the first nine years of his career, Lillard has been named to six All-Star teams, six All-NBA teams, and carried the Trail Blazers to the Western Conference Finals in 2019.

General admission tickets will be $7 for the event. WSU students will get in free to the game with a valid student ID. 

Tickets will go on sale on Monday, July 26 at WeberStateSports.com.
