SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Welcome to KSL Sports Game Night as the Utah Jazz will host the New York Knicks in the fourth game of a six-game homestand.

The Jazz are winners of eight straight, but last their last loss came against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on January 6.

The Knicks meanwhile have lost seven of their last 10 games since beating the Jazz, including a loss on Sunday to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Follow this page throughout the night for pregame quotes, starting lineups, and thoughts and highlights throughout the game.

Pregame Availability

The Jazz are preparing to face the Knicks, but have another pressing issue at hand. Tomorrow, the Salt Lake City Stars will travel to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando to undergo a 15 game G League season.

While the team officially announced the roster earlier today, they did not indicate how the Jazz plan to use two-way players Jarrell Brantley or Trent Forrest. The Jazz also have the option to send both rookies Elijah Hughes and Udoka Azubuike to Orlando should they see fit.

Quin Snyder discussed the balancing act that comes with losing players from the Jazz main roster during a pandemic, while also trying to see to their opportunity to develop.

“The primary thing that moves the needle is that we want guys to develop,” Snyder said. “And that development can take place both with the team, with the Jazz I should say, and also with the Stars.”

Two-way players can spend 50 games with the main roster this season, a boost from last season’s 45 day rule before using up their eligibility.

“Thought that has to be given to the possibility that if your team is impacted by COVID, and you’re towards the end of the year, and the guys that are on the two-ways are unable to play because they’ve used their days, that can be very impactful,” Snyder said. “I know that’s something that the league is addressing, but it goes into our calculations about who we can dress and play on a game.”

Ultimately, Snyder wouldn’t reveal whether the Jazz planned to send any of their two-way players or rookies to the bubble, but said it was an option, even if it wasn’t for the duration of the G League season.

Starting Lineups

Starting lineup for the Utah Jazz:

Starting Lineup for the New York Knicks:

First Quarter

The Knicks open the game doing nice job of grinding the game to a hault. The Jazz aren’t getting out in transition, and the Knicks defense is blowing up the Jazz sets.

Royce O’Neale has 7 of the Jazz 8 points, but they trail New York 11-8.

The Jazz are shooting just 26% from the floor and 17% from three. Conley, Mitchell, and Bogdanovic are a combined 0-9 and have 1 total point.

This is an ugly of a quarter as the Jazz have had since the second half of the Detroit Pistons win on the road in the second game of this winning streak.

Second Quarter

Austin Rivers incredible run to end the Jazz and Knicks last game has continued tonight in Salt Lake City. The guard has 19 points on a perfect 8-8 shooting, including three made threes.

Jazz are contesting his shots but he’s just making everything he throws up.

Austin Rivers is 10-10 to start this game and has 25 first half points. 5-5 from deep.

Jazz have no answers for the Knicks guard. Jazz trail 48-34 with 5:43 left in the first half.

Donovan Mitchell converts on not only his first shot, but the first shot from he, Mike Conley, or Bojan Bogdanovic. They were a combined 0-17 to start the game.

At the half, the Jazz trail the KnicksΒ 59-46. Considering the Jazz shot just 36% from the floor and 22% from three, and the Knicks shot 58% and 50%, it could have been much worse.

But the Jazz have significant work to do.

Third Quarter

Much more engaged start for the Jazz in the second half as Mike Conley has a quick eight points, and Bogdanovic hit a three. Jazz cut the Knicks lead to just 6.

The Jazz win the third quarter 34-22, and trim the Knicks lead to just 1, 81-80.

Jazz had three chances to take the lead but missed two threes and lost a possession on a jump ball.

Conley finishes with 14 points in the quarter and has 16 for the game.

Mitchell still struggling with his shot, and he’s just 2-13 for six points. Will he feel the need to try to take this game over, or can his teammates do enough he doesn’t have to try to be superman?

Fourth Quarter

The Jazz finally take the lead on an 8-0 run, capped by a three-point play from Clarkson and a three from Georges Niang.

It felt apparent throughout the game if the Jazz could get one of their three scorers going ther fortunes would change and they have in the second half.

Making shots helps as the Jazz have 8 made threes after making only 5 in the first half

Jazz are shooting 43% from the floor and 39% from three in the second half and lead the Knicks 98-84 with 5:30 left in the game.

More impressively, the Knicks have just 27 second-half points through 19 minutes.

The Jazz held the Knicks to just 3 points over the first six minutes of the fourth quarter.
