David Stockton Signs With Basketball Team In Puerto Rico

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – David Stockton will continue his professional basketball career in Puerto Rico. The former Utah Jazz guard, and son of Jazz legend and NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton plans to sign with Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico according to Sportando.

Stockton spent last season in the G League with the South Bay Lakers, the Los Angeles Lakers developmental affiliate where he averaged 15.3 points and 6.8 assists.

The son of the former Jazz great spent part of the 2018 season in Utah. The guard signed with the Jazz in March and finished the season on the roster. Stockton appeared in three games and averaged 3.3 points in three minutes per game.

Formerly, Stockton appeared in three games with the Sacramento Kings during the 2014-15 season. The guard was recently named vice president of the newly formed G League players association.

David is one of two Stockton sons to play professional basketball. Older brother Michael plays for Cholet Basket in France after playing college basketball at Westminster College in Utah.

Stockton’s two daughters have each played professional basketball in Germany. Daughter Lindsay Stockton played for Weiterstadt in 2016, while Laura signed to play with Herner TC earlier this year.

John Stockton spent 19 seasons in the NBA, all of them with the Jazz. The guard retired with career averages of 13.7 points, 10.5 assists, and 2.7 rebounds. Stockton appeared in 10 All-Star games, earned 11 All-NBA selections, and is the NBA’s all-time leader in steals and assists. The guard was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009.
