Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation Closing Venues To Public

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation announced they will be closing venues to the public beginning on Monday, March 16.

“The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation (UOLF) is proactively taking measures to slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19),” read a press release from the Foundation.

Amid concerns about preventing a widespread coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the county, the Utah Olympic Oval has made the decision to suspend all sport and public programs from Monday, March 16 through Sunday, March 29.

The Olympic venues to be closed include:

Utah Olympic Park
Utah Olympic Oval
Soldier Hollow Nordic Center

The venues will remain closed until Sunday, March 29, according to the foundation.

Team ski and snowboard training at the Utah Olympic Park and Soldier Hollow Nordic Center will continue, according to the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation.

“Following guidelines outlined by The Governor of Utah and our local health organizations- all public activities and group events are suspended for the time being,” the release continued.

The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates on their social media channels.

How Do I Prevent It?

The CDC has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:

Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
Avoid touching your face
Stay home when you are sick
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

The CDC does not recommend wearing a facemask respirator to protect yourself from coronavirus unless a healthcare professional recommends it.
