SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Utah Jazz were outscored in the paint by the Sacramento Kings and fell for the second time this season.

The Kings dominated the Jazz when it came to scoring points in the paint for a 102-101 win on Friday, November 1.

Sacramento edged Utah 52-38 on scoring inside the key.

The Jazz struggled on defense for multiple stretches of Friday’s game and continually allowed the Kings to drive to the hoop.

Sacramento’s backcourt of De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield scored a combined 43 points on 51.5 percent shooting.

The Kings took advantage of 17 Utah turnovers and turned them into 28 points.

The Jazz went without a made field goal for nearly five minutes in the middle of the fourth quarter before going on a 9-0 run to make it a close game at the end.

Utah allowed Sacramento extra possessions which proved fatal. The Kings grabbed 11 offensive rebounds including one on Sacramento’s final possession that lead to a putback bucket in the paint. The basket put Sacramento ahead by a point and ultimately sealed the win for the Kings after Donovan Mitchell missed a shot at the buzzer.

Friday’s loss was the first time this season that the Jazz allowed an opponent to score more than 100 points in a game.

Utah moved to a record of 4-2 on the season with the defeat.

The Jazz are back in action on Sunday, November 3 against the Los Angeles Clippers.

LA will host Utah after a couple of days of rest. The Clips last game prior to the Jazz was an October 31 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
