Utah HC (31-27-11, 73 points) hosts Tampa Bay (40-23-5, 85 points) at Delta Center on Saturday, March 22. The Lightning are fifth in the Eastern Conference, eight points clear of the wild card spots. Utah begins the weekend fifth in the Western Conference Wild Card race. St. Louis holds the final spot with 77 points, followed by Vancouver (76 points) and Calgary (75 points).

It was a wild second period in Salt Lake, with the Lighting and Utah HC combining for a quartet of goals.

Tampa’s Jake Guentzel ripped a shot through traffic 17:23 into the period, beating Karel Vejmelka to tie the game at three. Precisely 30 seconds later, John Marino fired the puck toward the net. Cooley was waiting in front, re-directing it to light the lamp.

It was the second time in the period that Utah had scored less than a minute after Tampa Bay found the back of the net.

The Lightning have outshot Utah 18-16 through two periods. Utah HC holds a massive 21-8 advantage in hits and has been the aggressor for much of the night.
