Utah Gymnastics Suffers First Loss In Nearly Two Years, Falling To No. 2 Oklahoma

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah gymnastics (Red Rocks) suffered their first loss in nearly two years after falling to No. 2 Oklahoma in Norman, 197.025-196.550.
Utah gymnastics (Red Rocks) last lost in the NCAA Semifinal in April of 2019 until they lost to No. 2 Oklahoma on Sunday. The Red Rocks went undefeated last season before their regular season finale and Pac-12 Championships was canceled due to COVID-19. They started 3-0 this season after beating BYU, Utah State and Southern Utah in the Best of Utah event.

On Sunday, the Sooners claimed the vault as Anastasia Webb had a 9.925 routine. Katherine Levasseur added a score of 9.875 to the Sooners’ total. Utah’s Maile O’Keefe had a 9.850 to lead the team on vault. Three gymnasts, including two from Utah (Jaedyn Rucker and Lucy Stanhope) tied for fourth place with a 9.825.

OU took the bars as well as Audrey Davis had a score of 9.900. O’Keefe was behind her with a score of 9.875. Cristal Isa and Emilie LeBlanc tied O’Keefe’s score on the bars.
O’Keefe had a strong routine on the beam where she won the even with a 9.950 score. Oklahoma had three gymnasts tie for second with a 9.900. The Red Rocks and Sooners tied the floor as Sydney Soloski and Emma LaPinta each scored a 9.900 routine.

Utah’s O’Keefe won the all-around with a 39.550, edging out OU’s Anastasia Webb’s 39.525 score. Isa from Utah finished in third with a 38.975 and Oklahoma gymnast Ragan Smith rounded out the top four with a 38.625 score.
The Red Rocks dropped to 3-1 on the season.
