Utah Gymnastics Standout Kim Tessen Named NCAA Woman Of The Year Nominee

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah gymnastics standout Kim Tessen is one of 259 Division I nominees for the 2020 Woman of the Year award.

In the 30th year of the award, a record 605 female student-athletes have been nominated, including 259 nominees from Division I. Conferences select up to two nominees from the pool of candidates which is followed by the Woman of the Year selection committee picking top 30 honorees (10 per division), which will be announced in September.

The selection committee will then determine the three finalists in each division among the 30 honorees. The committee members will vote among the nine finalists to determine the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year, which will be announced this fall.

Graduating student-athletes nominated for the award have been selected based on their academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership during their college careers.

After her senior season with the Red Rocks, Tessen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She was a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection and two-time WGCA Scholastic All-American. Tessen earned a spot on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in all four seasons at Utah and made the Dean’s List twice.

This past season, Tessen earned regular All-American honors on bars and vault. Her efforts on bars and vault earned her the Pac-12 Specialist of the Year and first-team All-Pac-12 honors in both events. Tessen was the No. 1 vaulter in the Pac-12 and finished No. 9 in the nation on bars and vault.
