No. 3 Utah Gymnastics Honors Longtime Coach After Win Over No. 21 Oregon State

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The third ranked Utah gymnastics team remained undefeated with a 197.100-196.275 win over No. 21 Oregon State.
The Red Rocks honored their legendary head coach Megan Marsden who spent 35 years at the University of Utah in the gymnastics program. She led the Utes to four National Championships as a competitor and six National Championships as a coach.

Utah started the meet on the vault and picked up a career-high 9.925 score from Cammy Hall. Cristal Isa added a 9.875 score along with Kim Tessen matching her career-high with a 9.95. After the first rotation, the Red Rocks held a 49.450-49.150 lead over Oregon State.

The Utes transitioned to the bars where Missy Reinstadtler scored a season-high 9.925, Isa chipped in a 9.875 routine along with 9.85 from Emilie LeBlanc, Abby Paulson and Tessen. Utah held onto a 98.800-98.275 lead at the end of the second rotation.

The Red Rocks moved to the beam and had a strong performance as a team. They started with a pair of 9.875 scores from LeBlanc and Alexia Burch. Later in the rotation, Utah had Maile O’Keefe notch a 9.975 routine and a 9.95 score from Isa. The Utes had a 148.400-147.600 lead over the Beavers at the end of the third rotation.

Utah moved to the floor in the final rotation where Paulson scored a 9.85 and Sydney Soloski finished the floor with a 9.90, leading the Utes to the win.

The Red Rocks improved their record to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in Pac-12 play. They will face their toughest challenge this season when they go on the road to battle No. 4 UCLA on Sunday, February 23. The meet will begin at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
