Former Ute Isaac Asiata Sworn In As Provo Police Officer

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and NFL offensive lineman Isaac Asiata has taken his talents from the football field to the streets in Provo.

Asiata announced on Twitter that he is officially an officer for the Provo Police Department.
In July, 2019, Asiata decided to retire from the NFL after 3 seasons in the league. He was with the Buffalo Bills when he retired.
“I honestly feel like my decision to become a police officer is no more important or as big of a moment as the countless others in this nation who swear to protect and serve their communities,” Asiata told KSL Sports. “I’m just happy to be a part of something bigger than myself.”
Asiata was drafted in the fifth round, 164th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. After spending two seasons in Miami, he was waived on June 6, 2019.

Asiata was drafted in the fifth round, 164th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. After spending two seasons in Miami, he was waived on June 6, 2019.
He had a very successful career at Utah as he was a leader on a talented offensive line. Asiata was named second team All-Pac-12 in 2016 and was awarded the Morris Trophy, which is given annually to the best offensive and defensive lineman in the Pac-12 and is selected by opposing players.
In January, 2020, Asiata decided he wanted to become a police officer with ambitions to help and provide for others.
