SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Fans at Vivint Smart Home Arena applauded former Utah Jazz and current Miami Heat forward Jae Crowder as he checked into the game between the Heat and Jazz.

Utah hosted Miami at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Wednesday, February 12.

Crowder checked into the game for Miami with 4:23 left in the first quarter of the game. As he stepped onto the court, Crowder was recognized by the crowd with a round of applause.

The Heat forward spent 1.5 seasons with the Jazz. Crowder was traded from Cleveland to Utah midway through the 2017-18 season.

During his first season with Utah, the forward averaged 11.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 27 games.

In his second season with the Jazz, Crowder played in 80 games including 11 starts. He averaged 11.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.

In June 2019, Crowder was traded to Memphis as part of a transaction that gave the Jazz point guard Mike Conley.

Crowder played two games against the Jazz early in the 2019-20 season as a member of the Grizzlies. He was traded from Memphis to Miami prior to this season’s NBA trade deadline.

During the first quarter of Wednesday’s game, Crowder scored 5 points on 2-3 shooting including 1-1 from three-point range.

He added 1 assist during 4 minutes on the court. Crowder posted a +7 plus-minus rating during the opening quarter.

Crowder and the Heat closed the first quarter on a 10-2 run to take a three-point lead. Miami held a 28-25 advantage as the two teams went to the bench in preparation for the second quarter.

During the opening 12 minutes of play, Miami shot 47.8 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from behind the arc.

Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 8 points in the first quarter.

In the opening quarter, Utah shot 52.6 percent on field goals and 30.0 percent from distance. Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic led the Jazz with 7 points apiece.
